The 2019 release of Hazelburn Sherry Wood has been matured for 14 years in ex-oloroso sherry casks. A rich and complex single malt, it has aromas of chocolate-covered raisins, almonds, summer berries and dark chocolate, while the palate offers notes of raspberry sorbet, freshly-baked sponge cake, blueberries and milk chocolate. The finish develops notes of salted caramel, pepper and roasted coffee that build and linger.

Hazelburn 14 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Fruit and nut chocolate, rich dark chocolate mocha, raisins and marzipan, berry coulis and caramelised walnuts.

Palate: A hint of leather, with jammy blackberry and milk chocolate praline, followed by freshly baked blueberry muffins, a pinch of pepper and pear drops.

Finish: Sherried fruits, salted caramel, liquorice, roasted coffee beans and waxy notes, as the pepper returns for a lengthy finish.

Distillery Information

The Springbank distillery is a family-owned single malt whisky distillery on the Kintyre Peninsula in western Scotland. It is owned by J & A Mitchell & Company, who also owns the Glengyle Distillery, the oldest independent bottler, William Cadenheads, and several blended scotch labels.
