A young, smoky single malt from Elixir Distillers’ Elements of Islay series, Oc6 offers aromas of sea salt, iodine, lemon, maraschino cherries, caramel and ginger. The palate gives notes of rich peat smoke, cracked black pepper, grapefruit, marmalade and rye bread.

Nose: Burnt matches and iodine softened by lemon and orange peel, tinned fruit and maraschino cherries. Sumptuous melted caramel and ginger emerge after adding a drop of water.

Palate: The chewy texture instantly erupts with hot peat and astringent smoke, before opening up into sea salt and cracked black pepper. Past the spice, there’s a generous helping of grapefruit marmalade spread on toasted rye bread.

Finish: Dry finish with more citrus fruit, malted barley, tarragon and green tomatoes.

Bruichladdich Distillery is a distillery on the Rhinns of the isle of Islay in Scotland. The distillery produces mainly single malt Scotch whisky, but has also offered artisanal gin. It is owned by Rémy Cointreau and is one of eight working distilleries on the island.
