This bourbon is made form a mash of 70% corn from Le Claire, 20% wheat from Reynolds, IL and 10% unmalted barley from Davenport, IA. It is aged for two years in newly charred 30 gallon oak barrels, about half the size of a traditional whiskey barrels at a lower proof than typical.

Nose: The massive redcurrant, blackcurrant and strawberry jam notes jostle with the smoke. Plummy and curiously fresh still.

Palate: Huge fruits – red fruits at first, cranberry sauce, flashes of sweet ketchup.

Finish: Blackcurrants on a spicy finish.

Distillery Information

The Bunnahabhain Distillery was founded in 1881 near Port Askaig on Islay. The village of Bunnahabhain was founded to house its workers. Since 2014 the distillery has been owned by Distell and is one of nine active distilleries on the island.
