The 2017 release of Talisker’s excellent 25-year-old whisky denys the reputation for greatness. Carefully balancing the distillery’s seaside, salt and pepper character against elegant oak and delicate fruity notes, it’s a masterclass in ageing with a delightfully old-fashioned air.

Talisker 25 Year Single Malt Scotch Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: Banana fritters, sea spray, old oak furniture, cider apples, a whiff of Frazzles, all held together with crumbly fudge notes.

Palate: Floral heather – perhaps a hint of rose too. Develops heavier notes of salted caramel, chilli chocolate, smoky barley and nectarines.

Finish: Smoke becomes sweet on the finish, with an undercurrent of cedar.

Distillery Information

Talisker Distillery is heavily influenced by its location on the Isle of Skye — it embodies the spirit of the rocky, storm-lashed island and its strong, steadfast people. The distillery was founded in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill, who leased the Talisker House from Clan MacLeod and eventually converted it into a distillery.
