Zaya Gran Reserva 16 Year Old

The Gran Reserva, previously made in Guatemala but now produced in Trinidad, is distilled in small, copper pot stills from pure sugarcane. The finished product is a blend of three to five rums aged for a minimum of 12 years. Its color is a rich, coppery mahogany.

“Gran Reserva debuts with massive vanilla, allspice and maple syrup tones that segue into gorgeous vanilla, wood and cocoa/mocha on the palate. Well-integrated spice and hints of roasted orange peel follow under a sheen of banked heat. The finish is sweet and lingering with ever-diminishing warmth. Definitely sweet but deftly balanced. Sip this slowly with nuts and hard cheeses.
